Survivor to divide tribes by race

Shows plans on four tribes: White, Black, Hispanic and Asian

It looks like "Survivor" will be playing the race card in its new season.

The announcement was made on CBS' Morning Show that this year the Survivor wannabes will be divided up into four tribes by race: white, black, Hispanic and Asians.

Host Jeff Probst told the show the idea for this year's format "actually came from the criticism that 'Survivor' was not ethnically diverse enough." He added the style of the new season fits perfect with the show as a "social experiment."

This season the survivors are stranded on the Cook Islands in the South Pacific, according to the Associated Press. The castaways include a police officer, a heavy metal guitarist, an attorney and a nail salon manager. The new season of 'Survivor' debuts Sept. 14.
