Survivor Samoa: One Idol, Two Idols

One of the biggest pet peeves I have when it comes to television is previews that falsely tease viewers. Why get my hopes up if what's advertised doesn't happen?

Of course I am referring to last week's preview which made it seem like Russell was in serious trouble. Having given up his idol during last week's tribal council, it appeared his days on the show were numbered. Former Galu members recognized how deceitful and untrustworthy he was. With only a few allies from Foa Foa to stand by him, the chances he would not be voted out this week were slim to none. But what actually happened? You guessed it, he was spared!

Feeling nervous by his vulnerability, Russell decided to look for another hidden immunity idol to save him. Yet he couldn't do this right away with so many people walking around camp. He was given an opportunity though when half the tribe went on reward for the day. Russell lost no time searching every nook and cranny until he found his second immunity idol this season without clues! He showed it to his former Foa Foa tribemates and began planning to oust Laura.

However the immunity challenge threw a wrench in these plans when Laura came from behind to win. Back at camp, the old Galu gathered to finalize Russell's demise, still unaware he had found the idol. Monica did not underestimate the strategic player and suggested the team consider an alternative in case Russell did have the idol, but her teammates weren't too worried. Meanwhile, Mick, Natalie, Russell and Jaison decided to vote for Kelly. Russell was still uncertain about playing the idol again.

At tribal council old Galu was extremely confident the vote would go in their favor since they outnumbered Foa Foa. But the underdogs told host Jeff Probst they still had hope. Before tallying the votes, Russell revealed his idol, much to the surprise of Galu. This meant any votes against Russell would not be counted, and the person with the next highest number of votes would be eliminated. Having dismissed Monica's concerns, a shocked Kelly was voted out.

Probst warned the idol would be placed back in the game. Next week's previews show a race to find the idol. Russell and his allies are searching for it while Galu tries to ensure he never finds it. It promises to be a very interesting episode. Hopefully the hype will not be for naught.
