Swayze Talks About Cancer Struggles
In an interview with Barbara Walters, to be aired Wednesday on ABC, The Beast star, Patrick Swayze, 54, opened up about the tough times he's experienced in the past year since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
According to People magazine, Swayze admits that it has been an emotionally draining experience. "There's a lot of fear here," Swayze explains, "Yeah, I'm scared. Yeah I'm angry, Yeah I'm [asking] why me?"
Swayze has already surpassed most people diagnosed with his condition by battling the disease for over a year. Most patients with advanced stage pancreatic cancer don't live longer than six months. Swayze attributes his survival so far in part to his deceased father, who he says is watching over him.
Swayze also says that he is looking to the future. The actor built a large catalogue of successful film work during the '80s and early '90s, including such hits as Dirty Dancing and Ghost, but had been less visible in recent years. His latest endeavor, The Beast, a show about undercover FBI agents, is set to premiere on A&E this spring.
