Swine Flu Still on the Rampage

The H1N1 virus claims seven more lives in New York City and its first fatality in Europe.

New York City is now home to 1,032 people infected with the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as the Swine Flu, according to the New York Times. The Times has also reported that 7 more people have died in NYC, bringing the city's total death count to 23. A total of 709 people have recently been hospitalized.

Across the Atlantic Ocean, a Glasgow woman died shortly after giving birth, as reported by BBC News. The 38-year-old died due to other health conditions, perhaps associated with her son's premature birth. Jacqueline Fleming is the first European death associated with the flu virus.

BBC News additionally reported that the World Health Organization has declared a global flu pandemic, the first in 40 years. The virus has spread to a total of 76 countries thus far.

People everywhere should be aware that the Swine Flu is still prevalent and dangerous, and those suffering from flu symptoms should see a doctor and then remain at home.
