The SyFy network is getting into the comedy business. SyFy announced that they are working on developing a paranormal procedural spoof called Ghost Ghirls, which will be produced by Kung Fu Panda star Jack Black.

Deadline reports that the show was created by Jeremy Konner, Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci. Black is slated to executive produce the show, which Konner will direct. Specifically, the show takes aim at Medium, Ghost Whisperer and other shows that combine the paranormal with the traditional procedural cop drama.

Lund and Blasucci will star. Digital Spy reports that Lund’s character will be a self-proclaimed psychic named Heidi, while Blasucci is a tech wizard named Angelia.

Black and Konner have a very funny past together. The two worked together on two Drunk History shorts, where Black played a very, very drunk Benjamin Franklin.

Black is also working on another series, this time with NBC. Announced last month, this series will center on a couple who met through online dating and will be written by 30 Minutes or Less’s Michael Diliberti.

There was no word on when Ghost Ghirls will go into production.
