Tabloid Being Sued by Brangelina
News of the World is facing legal pressure from Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie after the tabloid published a story that the couple were splitting up. According to a lawyer working for the couple, the tabloid “failed to meet our clients reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets.”
Indeed, the rumor was so widely republished that EOnline.com published a conspiracy corner post, there’s a ton of coverage on how they’re NOT splitting up, and there was a ton of speculation on their PDA at the Super Bowl last night.
News of the World and others had published reports that Brangelina have met with divorce lawyers to divide their fortune, including mansions in France, New Orleans, and L.A, and that their children would live with Jolie. Reportedly, paperwork is already organized for their breakup.
Where News of the World got its info is questionable, but it’s safe to say no one will be winning a Pulitzer for this one.
