Taco Bell Dog Dies at 15
Gidget, the Chihuahua that first gained popularity with viewers in a "Yo Quiero Taco Bell" ad, died from a stroke Tuesday night.
Actor Carlos Alazraqui, who is best known for his role as Deputy James Garcia in Comedy Central's "Reno 911," supplied the voice that overdubbed the tagline for the female dog, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Although her gig in the fast-food chain's ad campaign out shadows most of her other work, she had a number of other small cameos. The Los Angeles Times reports one of those roles was alongside the GEICO gecko in a 2002 commercial. Msnbc.com reports that Gidget had a spot in a commercial for a 90s edition of Trivial Pursuit and as Bruiser's mom in "Legally Blonde 2." Her trainer, Sue Chipperton told People magazine at a photo shoot in February that she was best friends with the dog that played Bruiser, Moonie.
