Tammy Faye Bakker Mesner Dies at 65
It was announced on Saturday that Tammy Faye Bakker Messner lost her long battle with colon cancer. She was famous for her trademark make-up, which she told Salon was permanently tattooed on her face, and her hugely successful televangelist empire. Messner was born in International Falls, Minnesota, on March 7, 1942. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1996 and announced in 2004 that the disease has spread to her lungs. She was very outspoken on her experience with the disease and was able to make many people more aware of the disease. On May 8th she posted a message on her website saying that she was only 65 pounds and that her doctors were going to stop treatment, so she was leaving her fate "up to God and my faith." On Monday Messner posted a note on her website, "I have times when I feel good and times when I feel really bad. But, I have learned one thing about feelings. They have nothing to do with faith in God!!" She supposedly died peacefully, she was 65.
