Tattoo Parlor Fined for Rihanna
On July 1st, Rihanna stopped by her tattoo artist, Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy's shop to say hi. Afterwards, East Side Ink in Manhattan was visited by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and cited for letting Rihanna tattoo a few employees without a license.
Celina De Leon, spokeswoman for the department, toldThe New York Post, "We got a call from a celebrity media outlet that Rihanna had been at the parlor and that she had been tattooing, but she was gone by the time the inspector got there."
Rihanna is not the only one to blame. The citations could range from $200 to $2,000 because the inspector found an unlicensed tattoo artist working in the shop at the time of the visit. According to The New York Daily News the department said, "Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city, according to the City's Health Code."
Owners of the tattoo parlor have said the tattoo artist was in from another state where he is legally allowed to work.
Since the incident no other citations have been issued on the tattoo shop.
