Taylor Momsen went from playing 15-year-old squeaky clean Jenny Humphrey on season one of Gossip Girl to being a full-blown angsty, pouty, “miserable” rock star, as she is the lead singer of her band, The Pretty Reckless. Her Gossip Girl character has gone to the dark side as well.

So who’s to blame for all the misery? According to Momsen herself, it is all her parents fault.

"Everyone's like, 'Wow, why is she upset and why is she so miserable about things?'" Momsen said. "My parents signed me up with Ford (modeling agency) at the age of two. No two-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice."

Momsen’s first notable role was when she was seven, starring in How the Grinch Stole Christmas alongside Jim Carrey.

"My whole life, I was in and out of school," she said. "I didn't have friends. I was working constantly and I didn't have a real life."

Now at 17, Momsen dresses provocatively and though she is too young, she regularly smokes cigarettes. But Momsen doesn’t want to be looked up to as a role model.

"I didn't get into this to be a role model for 7-year-olds," she told Parade magazine earlier this year. "If parents don't like some of the stuff I do, then they shouldn't let their kids watch me."
