Taylor Swift Tops Chart for Seventh Week

Country wonder beats Usher's record.

It's only the beginning of 2009 and Taylor Swift is already having a great year. She made her first appearance on Saturday Night Live earlier this month, and now her album has stayed at No. 1 for a seventh week.

Reuters reports that Swift's album, Fearless, sold an additional 63,000 copies to sit pretty at No. 1. Currently, the album has sold 2.3 million copies.

Swift beats a record set by R&B crooner Usher, who in 2004 spent nine weeks at No. 1 with his album, Confessions.

Also, Swift now boasts the longest-running No. 1 album by a solo female since Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, in 1995, stayed at the top.

MTV.com reports that another album had a big week as well. The soundtrack to the Notorious B.I.G. biopic, Notorious, sold 42,900 copies to debut at No. 4.

Beyonce's I Am . . . Sasha Fierce was No. 2 with 49,200 copies sold. Rock band Nickelback had the No. 3 spot with Dark Horse, selling 46,400 copies.

MTV.com also confirms that another soundtrack had a massive week. The soundtrack to the Golden Globe winning film, Slumdog Millionaire, skyrocketed 116 percent to hit the charts at No. 16.

And since American Idol has come back, last year's winner, David Cook, also saw a bump in sales. He had a 58 percent jump and hit No. 10. The self-titled album sold 30,600 copies.
