The former ABC Nightline host has been named as a political analyst for the BBC's World News America program, according to Reuters. Koppel has recently been working with the Discovery Channel on a four-part series dedicated to the effect of capitalism in China, a burgeoning economic power.
Koppel's responsibilities at World News America will include narrated video segments and on air conversations with host Matt Frei, according to AP.
AP quotes the British-born news icon as saying, "As someone who was born in England and grew up riveted to Dick Barton, Special Agent as a child, it's a particular pleasure for me now, as a U.S. citizen and long-time American journalist, to have been asked to join BBC America as a contributor. That's my whole life in one phrase -- BBC America.
In addition to working for the Washington D.C.-based BBC World News America program, Koppel has inked deals to work with the New York Times and National Public Radio.
