Television a-Twitter

Social networking site to develop show for larger screens.

Twitter, the networking tool and micro-blogging service, is partnering with Hollywood producers to create a TV show where the namesake site is a crucial plot point, reported Entertainment Weekly. Tweeting – the act of using Twitter – will feature heavily in the unscripted series.

Twitter is teaming up with Reveille Productions, the producers behind hit shows, Ugly Betty and The Office, and Brillstein Entertainment Partners (Samantha Who?) to craft the show, which will incorporate the networking site into participants' head-to-head efforts to hunt down celebrities by completing various tasks – all assigned through Tweets. Contestants will use Twitter to receive clues, complete scavenger hunts and undertake other challenges to hunt down their favorite icons, according to Bizmology.com.

The as-yet untitled show was created by novelist Amy Ephron, sister of Oscar-nominated screenwriter and filmmaker Nora Ephron and screenwriter and producer Delia Ephron, reported Reuters.com. Though the program is still in the development stage, it will likely gain a large following on-air due to Twitter's rising popularity in the online world, according to Bizmology.com.
