There is no Pot of Gold at the end of the "Reading Rainbow"

Fans were able to watch the last airing of the "Reading Rainbow" Friday as it will be taken off the air.

After a 26 year run fan finally say so long to the beloved PBS show "Reading Rainbow." The show that had been hosted by LeVar Burton, known for his role in "Roots," aired its last episode on Friday. The show followed "Sesame Street" and "Mister Roger's Neighborhood." as the third in line for the longest running public television children's program. John Grant, director of content for WNED, told the Washington Post that "producers were unable to secure the several hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to renew the show's broadcast rights." He said that there was a demand for shows that focused on teaching children how to read and that wasn't something the "Reading Rainbow" did. It's primary agenda was getting children to enjoy book, enjoy reading. The old episodes of the program will still be available for educational purposes in class rooms. According to Associated Press the "Reading Rainbow" site at pbskids.org will be discontinued in December.
