Thompson Goes Out With a Bang
The ashes of the late author Hunter S. Thompson lit up the sky in Aspen Colorado last Saturday in a farewell ceremony. Senator John Kerry, former senator George McGovern, as well as actors Johnny Depp and Bill Murray were only a few of the 350 invited guests who attended this observance.
Thompson shot himself at his home six months ago at age sixty-seven. Thompson, who followed the example of the great writer Ernest Hemmingway, left this world with a bang.
The ceremony was an emotional one, which comprised of two hours of tributes from those who knew and loved the writer. Thompson will be remembered as the writer of "gonzo" journalism who brightened the sky with red, blue, and silver fireworks display, which he planned himself 30 years ago.
