Thompson's Ashes to be Shot From a Canon
The gonzo journalist's last wishes to be fulfilled
Hunter S. Thompson, acclaimed journalist and author who committed suicide in February, will have his final wish fulfilled when his ashes are shot from a canon in his backyard. His widow, Anita Thompson, says that it will be expensive, but "worth every penny." She said he loved explosions.
Thompson, 67, had been suffering from several health problems, including hip replacement and a broken leg. He shot himself in the head on Feb. 20, while speaking to his wife on the telephone.
