Thompson's Suicide Note Revealed
Rolling Stone magazine has published a note written by gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson four days before he committed suicide in February. Thompson took his own like at his home in Colorado.
According to Rolling Stone, the note was titled "Football Season Is Over." The author of the note, whose most early writings appeared in Rolling Stone, clearly signified that he was nearing the end of his life and didn't want to be greedy by demanding more time in this world.
The not reads, "No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun - for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax - This won't hurt."
According to Thompson's biographer and friend, Douglas Brinkley, the title of the note itself explains why he lost the interest in life.
Brinkley writes: "February was always the cruelest month for Hunter S. Thompson. An avid NFL fan, Hunter traditionally embraced the Super Bowl in January as the high-water mark of his year. February, by contrast, was doldrums time."
