Thor Has a Face for the Big Screen
Chris Hemsworth has been deemed the new Marvel hero for the big screen, reports MTV.com. Director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige had been going back and forth on whether or not to use the Australian actor, but finally agreed it will work.
Although not a huge star, Hemsworth can be seen as George Kirk, Captain Kirk's father, in J. J. Abrams's adaptation of Star Trek, as well as Cabin in the Woods.
The 25-year-old actor was denied the role when reading for the part, reports ReelzChannel.com. However, once Hemsworth's agent convinced Feige to test him, he passed the test.
According to MTV.com, "Once Marvel put him on tape, it was 'Oh my god," Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily said when speaking of Hemsworth.
With future appearances in Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, Hemsworth will have his work cut out for him.
