Tila Tequila Sues Shawne Merriman

Reality TV star Tila Tequila filed a lawsuit this week against San Diego Chargers linebacker and ex-boyfriend Shawne Merriman over allegations he attacked her in September. Tequila is accusing Merriman of assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress.

Tila called 911 with claims she had been choked and prevented from leaving the property by Merriman. California police took Merriman into custody where he denied attacking his Tequila. He told cops he was preventing her returning home as she was drunk and didn't want her to travel alone.

Police freed Merriman and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis told San Diego CW there was "insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that any crime was committed" and declined to press charges.

Tila Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, is seeking unspecified damages. The star denied she was drunk even though the couple was spotted earlier partying at a nightclub in downtown San Diego. Nguyen claims she has photo evidence of bruises that were inflicted by Merriman during the incident.
