Tim Burton Directs "Alice in Wonderland," Out Next March
Lewis Carroll wrote the book, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," in 1865. There have been many screen adaptations of the book since then.
Tim Burton, director of "Edward Scissorhands," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," has directed a recreation of "Alice in Wonderland." The movie has the similar concept art of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
According to LA.com, Johnny Depp will star as the Mad Hatter along with Helena Bonham Carter (from "Big Fish") as the Red Queen. Also, Anne Hathaway will play the White Queen.
This is Depp's seventh collaboration with Burton, according to USAtoday.com.
Michael Lantieri is the special effects supervisor of the movie and says it introduces 3-D in a whole new fashion. Burton uses the technology in an unbelievable way. Lantieri says, "His vision and his take on thing - I never get tired of it."
Lantieri also said that discussions took place over everything; including the scene when Alice encounters the caterpillar smoking a hookah on a mushroom. He said that it was surprising how big a discussion that was.
The film will be out in March of next year.
