Tim Burton Finds His Alice for "Alice in Wonderland"
An unknown Australian actress got the coveted part in the film, which is due for release in 2010.
One of the most highly sought after, most rumored roles of the year was given to a young actress today by the name of Mia Wasikowska. The Australian actress will play Alice in Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.
Wasikowska was born in Canberra, and had her first acting gig in Australian TV series All Saints at the age of 14.
At this point, there is very little news about Wasikowska, who was born in 1990.
Her other acting credits also include HBO's In Treatment and I Love Sarah Jane, in which she played the title role.
The big rumor is that Johnny Depp will join the cast of Burton's film (as is usually the case) and play The Mad Hatter. Only time will tell, as is typically the case with rumors, so stay tuned.
