Tim Tebow will not be competing on the upcoming season of 'Dancing with the Stars'

By Samantha Yeh,

Dancing With the Stars has transformed a number of clumsy athletes to ballroom dancing professionals, but Tim Tebow will not be one of them -- not yet, at least.

Despite rumors the Denver Broncos quarterback was interested in competing on DWTS, a spokesperson for the team said Tebow would not be a featured contestant this upcoming season.

Broncos spokesperson Patrick Smyth told The Wrap, "Tim does not have any interest in participating in the show," saying that Tebow will be focusing on training for the 2012 football season.

Rumors flew in full force after DWTS current mirror ball champion J.R. Martinez told Celebuzz he met Tebow over the weekend at Super Bowl festivities.

"I did actually come across Tim Tebow and we chatted about [DWTS] for a second. I thought he'd do pretty well on the show," Martinez said in the interview with Celebuzz.

Despite Martinez's words of encouragement, Tebow isn't going to be stepping onto the ballroom floor anytime soon.

"He said 'maybe in a year," Martinez said.

Tebow addressed the rumors first hand in an interview with HLN late last week.

"I don't think so, I'm going to be pretty busy training and getting ready for football season," he said. "I think their show is great and it's fun but I don't think this season is right for me yet."

HollywoodLife.com reported in January that Tebow, Jersey Shore star J-Woww and former GOP candidate Michele Bachmann were all being considered for the show's 14th season.

The complete lineup for Dancing With The Stars will be announced Feb. 28 on Good Morning America.
