Timbaland Creates First Ever "Mobile Album" with Verizon

Billboard reports Timbaland announcing a deal with Verizon Wireless to create the first ever "mobile album" that will be available exclusively to V Cast and Verizon Wireless customers.

Timbaland will produce one song per month for the entire year, each one with a different artist as he travels the country in the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus. Each track will be released within days of it being produced.

Timbaland tells Billboard that mobile songs will reach more listeners because, "every place don't get a CD [but] everybody has a mobile phone." Plus, there's history to be made. Just producing a mobile album has never been done. I'm the first to ever do it."

Timbaland and Verizon's partnership kicks off with a pre-Grammy party hosted by Verizon and People magazine, where the producer will debut the first mobile song which features artist Keri Hilson.

Timbaland's latest album, Shock Value, is up for five Grammy Awards.
