Justin Timberlake is taking another swing at acting in his most recent film "The Open Road."

According to the Associate Press, Justin Timberlake is set to star in the new baseball film entitled The Open Road. Timberlake will play the fictional character of Carlton Garrett, a baseball player for the Corpus Christi Hooks minor league baseball team.

To prepare for the film, the 27-year-old Timberlake tried to meet up with Houston Astros' Doube-A team in Austin, Texas recently, but was unable to get together due to conflicting schedules.

Written and directed by Michael Meredith, the film centers around a young man who must return home to be with his sick mother. At the same time, the aspiring baseball player attempts to connect with his father, a legendary athlete.

Production of the movie began Tuesday in Louisiana. Timberlake has previously been seen on screen in the movie Alpha Dog, and also voiced a character in the animated film Shrek the Third.
