Tina Fey: I'm Leaving Earth
If she wins, I'm done and by 'I'm done,' I mean I'm leaving Earth.
That is what Tina Fey tells TV Guide she will do if her hilarious alter-ego, Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, makes it to the White House. Although her major comeback to Saturday Night Live as Alaska's ditzy governor has brought immense success and booming ratings, Fey is not too eager to continue spoofing Palin if she and Senator John McCain win the upcoming November elections. "I can't do that for four years," comments Fey in the upcoming issue of TV Guide, alongside 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin on the cover. Frankly, four years as Sarah Palin does sound like a frightening full time commitment.
"That lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she's very likable. She's fun to play, and the two bits with Amy [Poehler], that was super fun," Fey adds about her experience impersonating Palin. Of course, dread of life after November will not stop her from continuing her spoof of the former-beauty queen turned politician, at least up until the big day that is.
The New York Post reports that indeed, Fey has it within her grasp to "do-in" Palin. "Presidential impersonators do influence elections, and in this one, Tina Fey is well on her way to ruining Sarah Palin's political career," commented American Studies Professor Podair of Lawrence University.
So Fey's message is pretty self-explanatory: If you want to keep her on our beloved Earth, do as Tina Fey would do on Election Day.
