Tina Knowles Allegedly Files For Divorce

Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother and costume designer, has reportedly filed for divorce against Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and long-time manager. Tina Knowles filed the papers last month in Texas, according to TMZ.

Both Tina and Matthew Knowles have played a large part in Beyonce’s career. Matthew quit his job at IBM 20 years ago to begin managing Beyonce’s early group, Girl’s Tyme, which eventually turned into Destiny’s Child. Matthew also has producer credits on many of Beyonce’s projects, such as her 2009 film, “Obsessed.”

Tina Knowles designed many of Destiny’s Child’s one-of-a-kind costumes early in their career. She is also a stylist and one of the principals in House of Dereon, a fashion line that her and Beyonce launched in 2004.

Matthew was allegedly given a paternity suit in October from a woman, Alexsandra Wright, who said she was six month pregnant with a child she claimed was his. According to TMZ, it is unclear whether or not the paternity suit led to the supposed filing for divorce.
