Gloria Stuart, the actress who played elderly Rose in Titanic, is 100!
According to USMagazine.com, Stuart celebrated her birthday on Sunday with over 100 family members and friends at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills.
The party was hosted by Director James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis. According to the Los Angelos Times, the couple, who has been married for ten years, credits their relationship to Stuart, who brought them together during the filming of Titanic. "Gloria brought Jim and me together," Amis said to all the party guests. "She saw our whole love happen, and it blossomed in front of her eyes. And on Jim's birthday, she called me and said, 'Suzy, it's somebody's birthday, and you need to call him.' She guided and held my hand through the whole thing. She's my dear, dear friend. And Gloria, when I grow up, I want to be just like you."
Some other people in attendance at the birthday party included Shirley MacLaine, Tom Arnold, and Frances Fisher.
The Los Angelos Times reported Cameron saying, "Gloria's so alive, and her creativity, her artistry and the sparkle in her eyes is a challenge to all of us to live as fully and richly as she has and will continue to do as she heads into her 101st year.”
Stuart was born on July 4, 1910 in Santa Monica, California. Stuart's family roots can be traced back to the gold rush town of Angels Camp.
