'Clash of the Titans' garnered $26.4 million Friday.

The Titans rule. The remake of the classic Clash of the Titans ruled the box office competition Friday, landing the top spot its opening day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Titans snapped up $26.4 million Friday, a delightful number for the studio heads.

Talking heads criticized Warner Bros. Studio for converting the flick into 3-D just two months before its release, but audiences obviously didn’t care. But the film is still available in 2-D as well. THR says Titans is expected to reel in upward of $60 million across 3,777 theaters by the end of the holiday weekend. To build up some hype, there were pre-screenings Thursday night.

Tyler Perry’s film Why Did I Get Married Too? was number two with $12.3 million. How to Train Your Dragon was third with $11 million, for an eight-day total of $74.1 million. Miley Cyrus’ The Last Song landed the fourth spot with $7.1 million.
The official results of the box office match will be declared Monday morning.
