TLC orders new series 'Southie Pride'

495 Productions, who brought us 'Jersey Shore,' brings drama to Boston

TLC will be getting a new series from 495 Productions, the company that is known for Jersey Shore.

This new reality series with the working title Southie Pride takes viewers inside the homes of five women in South Boston, as they struggle to make a life for their family and protect their loved ones.

495 Productions is currently casting for the series and was filming this past weekend in South Boston when the town suffered a Super Bowl loss by the New England Patriots.

President of 495 Productions, SallyAnn Salsano, said in a statement, "Spend some time with the women of South Boston and you quickly learn that pride runs deep, family comes first, and that their friendships and rivalries are forever. And, their accents are wicked awesome,” reports The Huffington Post

Southie Pride will not be a Jersey Shore redux, having more in common with the Real Housewives on Bravo.

The series will take a look into the friendships and rivalries of city's real-life characters as they raise their children, reports a press release found on TV By the Numbers.

The people of South Boston, also known as Southies, have been the basis for many hit movies and best-selling books.

TLC has ordered eight episodes of Southie Pride and it is expected to debut in the fall.

TLC is also the home to popular shows, Cake Boss, Say Yes to the Dress, Sister Wives, My Strange Addiction, Toddlers & Tiaras, 19 Kids and Counting, and What Not to Wear.
