TNT puts in pilot order for ‘Rizzoli'

TNT has issued a pilot order for "Rizzoli," a drama pilot based on Chinese novelist Tess Gerritsen's Jane Rizzoli mystery novels.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "Written by Janet Tamaro (‘Bones'), "Rizzoli" revolves around the crime-solving team of Boston medical examiner Maura Isles and Detective Jane Rizzoli. Michael Robin, helmer and executive producer on TNT's hit ‘The Closer,' also a female-centered cop series, is in talks to direct the pilot, which is produced by Warner Horizon.'"

In addition, Tamaro, who previous producing credits include co-producing several episodes of the CBS hit crime drama "CSI: NY," will be the show's executive producer along with Bill Haber.

Haber's credits include executive producing the 2006 TV biodrama "Life Is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story," which starred Barrino, Loretta Devine, who starred in 1995's "Waiting to Exhale" and Kadeem Hardison, who is best known for his role as Dwayne Wayne on the NBC television series "A Different World" as well as starring opposite Eddie Murphy and Angela Bassett in the 1995 Wes Craven-directed horror comedy "Vampire in Brooklyn." Haber also executive produced the TNT 8-episode sci-fi horror series "Nightmares and Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King" and finally he executive produced the 2006 Gwyneth Paltrow/Jude Law/ Giovanni Ribisi sci-fi action adventure film "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow."

The HollywoodReporter.com concludes by saying, "If ‘Rizzoli' goes into production it will join the Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion project, which TNT picked up to pilot in July with Noah Wyle tapped as the lead.'"
