As part of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’s weeklong tribute to Pink Floyd, Roger Waters joined the Foo Fighters on-stage for a cover of “In the Flesh”. The track, taken from Pink Floyd’s 1979 hit The Wall, played out slightly shorter than the album’s four-minutes, assumedly to make it a little more TV-friendly.
In an interview with Fallon, Rogers praised the Shins’ cover of “Breathe”, which they performed on Monday’s show. He went on to discuss the band’s origins and evolution, as well as the notorious struggles Pink Floyd had with singer Syd Barrett. Waters has been on tour performing The Wall Live, playing 120 shows in Europe and North America. He went on to announce that the tour- which has been extended four times already- will be making a return run in the US.
Pink Floyd week will continue on Late Night, with scheduled performances by MGMT, Dierks Bentley, and Pearl Jam to round out the week. If you happen to miss an episode, you can catch repeats on Late Night’s website the day after they air. And be sure to catch the Shins’ performance here, because it really is as great as Waters says it is.
