Tony Award nominations announced
Nominations for the 2005 Tony Awards were announced Monday in 25 categories.
Taking the lead was "Spamalot," an adaptation of the 1975 film "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with 14 nominations. Receiving nods for best musical, best director, and best score, the musical also garnered best performance nominations for stars Hank Azaria and Tim Curry.
Following closely in second movie-turned-musical hopefuls, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," and "The Light in the Piazza" are competing for best musical as well with 11 nods each. "Piazza" was originally adapted from a book.
Australian actor Hugh Jackman will be hosting the 58th Annual Tony Awards from Radio City Music Hall on June 5th. The awards, recognizing the year's Broadway achievements will be telecast on CBS.
