Tony Orlando Loves The Troops Who Buy Records

It might not be the meaning that the artist intended, but as long as people are buying his albums again who cares what the song is really about!

Sure, "Born In The USA" isn't the flag-waving patriotic anthem that Reagan might have had you believe, but that didn't stop singer/song-writer Bruce Springsteen from cashing on the song's popularity when that president chose the song as his re-election anthem. So, who should be surprised that singer Tony Orlando is more than happy to cash in on the renewed popularity of the song he performed with Dawn, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon." The song, with its message of a hopeful return and the image of a yellow ribbon has become a theme of sorts among military families and people who can't stop telling people with cameras or a recording device how much they just love the troops.

Orlando, who admitted he never forsaw a military theme in the song, hoped to capitalize further on the song's recent successes with the launch of a new book called "Tie A Yellow Ribbon." The book is apparently about what the song of the same name has come to mean for modern audiences. He's not exactly Bob Hope, but as long as the wars keep heating up Mr. Orlando will likely be playing his fair share of USO shows for the rest of his career. It's always good to hear somebody is benefiting from all this misery.
