Tony Romo Was Under Too Much Pressure to Tie the Knot

According to a source close to Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo, their sudden split was not so sudden after all. In fact, their relationship's unexpected ending was actually months in the making, reports MSNBC.com.

"Tony pulled the plug because he couldn't stand the constant heat Jessica was putting on him to get married," the insider revealed to the National Enquirer.

The pressure to tie the knot was too much for the NFL star. The source claimed Romo found an easy way to end things as Simpson's 29th birthday approached, says MSNBC.com

"The final nail in the coffin was an argument they had over how to celebrate Jessica's birthday," the insider continued. "She wanted a splashy Ken & Barbie-themed bash with all of her celebrity friends, and Tony wanted a quiet, low-key dinner for just the two of them."

Simpson's party plans allegedly demonstrated why the two could not make things work.

"Tony told Jessica that he wanted to take a break," the source added. "He's worn out from bickering, and he wants to concentrate on training for the football season."
