Eating gluten which is protein found in wheat, barley and rye triggers stomach problems in those with Celiac Disease. However, eating a gluten-free diet is going mainstream, as what once was a stigma is becoming an increasingly popular eating trend. While some celebrities do have gluten and wheat allergies, others cut ingesting gluten to shed unwanted pounds, gain energy, and overall feel healthier!

1)Zooey Deschanel
The blue eyed beauty was one of the first celebrities to adopt a gluten free diet as she developed an allergy to the protein found in wheat barley and rye. She appeared on an episode of Top Chef Masters and combined with her vegan diet the culinary gurus were forced to use not so familiar products like quinoa pasta. She is no longer a vegan, but still is strictly GF!

2) Victoria Beckham
The British fashion icon is famous for her model-like physique and slender frame, which can be partly attributed to going gluten-free. The former Spice Girl and wife of David Beckham claims she is allergic to dairy, which often coincides with gluten allergies.

3) Gwyneth Paltrow
The healthy mother, actress, and country music singer promoted gluten-free eating on her website, where she often posts recipes and her latest food obsessions. Paltrow claims going gluten-free is key in losing excess weight, which she tends to gain around the holiday’s; although doesn’t reveal any connection to a gluten allergy or celiac disease.

4) Rachel Weisz
The Oscar award winner for The Constant Gardener in 2006 went on a gluten free diet because she had an intolerance to wheat. The British native also claims going gluten-free gives her more energy and overall feels a lot better.

5) Keith Olbermann
Olberman has gone gluten-free not to drop extra weight, but because he actually has celiac disease. He has openly discussed gluten-free diets as more than just a celebrity fad, but the important health complications someone with a gluten allergy will experience from malnutrition to internal bleeding. The Countdown host knows firsthand how the slightest amount of gluten can be detrimental to someone with Celiac!

6) Jenny McCarthy
McCarthy’s son Evan was diagnosed with autism, and she credits going gluten-free as part of his full recovery process. She told CNN “We believe what helped Evan recover was starting a gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and anti-fungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines.”

The young actress and Shameless star has eaten gluten free for years! She is open about celiac disease, discussing it on The Martha Stewart Show and even is boasting about her Jewish faith, encouraging fans to try Passover cuisine which is naturally gluten free!

8)Elisabeth Hasselbeck
The witty TV co-host of The View doesn’t look at having celiac as a negative, but feels it is an amazing energizing way of eating! She even wrote a book ”The G-Free Diet: A Gluten Survival Guide” which reveals how she first saw symptoms in college and her transition to a gluten free lifestyle. She credits gluten-free to an extremely healthy lifestyle which many of her family members have adapted to.

9) Erin McKenna
The owner of BabyCakes Bakery in NYC, Los Angeles, and now Downtown Disney she actually became the face of gluten-free baking! Her business success has translated into a cookbook, and McKenna uses alternative ingredients like agave and rice flour to create sinfully delicious gluten free cupcakes and desserts, which have even been featured in Shape Magazine.

10) Chelsea Clinton
The former president’s daughter caught attention by insisting on a gluten-free wedding for her big day in 2010. Her upstate New York Wedding was catered vegetarian, and because of her gluten allergy, the cake was wheat-free.
