Marriage is supposed to be a long-term commitment to that one special person in your life. However, a long lasting marriage is rare in Hollywood. Following Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' split after 72 days, here’s a look at some of the shortest celebrity marriages over the past decade. Not surprisingly, their divorce wasn’t a record, but still ranked among the top ten.

The Bronx native married choreographer Chris Judd in September 2001 at a private California residence. Lopez met Judd on the set of her music video for “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” The couple split the following June, citing irreconcilable differences. She later married Marc Anthony, but that relationship didn’t last either, ending after seven years.

They say you shouldn’t date your co-workers, but these One Tree Hill stars didn’t take the advice. The couple dated for two years, before tying the knot in April 2005. They separated five months later, with Bush filing an annulment and citing fraud as the reason for the split. A source told People magazine that Murray didn’t share Bush’s belief “in the sanctity of marriage.”
8. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock= 4 months
The on-again, off-again couple married in July 2006 on a yacht in St. Tropez. Despite the Baywatch beauty calling the ceremony “the best most romantic wedding of all time,” they filed for divorce that November, citing irreconcilable differences.
7. Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney= 4 months
The Bridget Jones’s Diary actress meet the country music star in January 2005 while working at the Concert of Hope for victims of the South Asia tsunami. Their romance was made public that April, and the next month the pair exchanged vows in a beachside wedding in the Virgin Islands. But four months later, in September, Zellweger filed an annulment.
6. Lisa Marie Presley and Nicolas Cage= 3 months
The daughter of Elvis wed the Oscar winning actor in August 2002 during a secret ceremony in Hawaii on the 25th anniversary of King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s death. Three months later, Cage filed divorce papers. Presley revealed the doom of the relationship from the start, saying in a statement, “we shouldn’t have been married in the first place.”
5. Nicky Hilton and Todd Meister= 3 months
The young hotel heiress married the older businessman in a shot-gun wedding at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel in August 2004. The relationship ended after three months, with a judge granting the former couple an annulment. According to Meister, one of the reasons for the separation was due to Hilton’s immaturity.
4. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries= 72 days
The reality star and NBA player recently made headlines with their split after roughly two and a half months as a wedded couple. Kardashian insists she married for love but hasn’t dished many details about what made the marriage turn downhill. In her first television interview since announcing the divorce, the 31-year-old said “intuition” was the reason behind her decision.
3. Mario Lopez and Ali Landry= 18 days
The Saved by the Bell star and model dated for six years before tying the knot in Mexico in April 2004. They met at the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant, where she was a commentator and he was host. The pair parted almost 2 weeks later as a result of Lopez’s alleged infidelity.
2. Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds= 2 weeks
The actor and movie producer tied the knot in Bora Bora on New Year’s Day in 2008, after dating for years. The ceremony was purely a spiritual event, with plans to have a legally binding one in the U.S. However, the latter ceremony never happened, with the couple releasing a statement two weeks later saying they have decided to just be friends.
1. Britney Spears and Jason Alexander= 55 hours
The 22-year-old pop singer at the time married her childhood friend in a Las Vegas Chapel in January 2004, donning jeans and a baseball cap. According to Jive Records, Spears’ record label, the stunt was a joke taken too far by the young adults. The friends annulled the marriage less than three days later.
