For most, school is back in full swing. Planners are being filled out, homework is getting accomplished and stress levels are climbing. When I feel that familiar tug at the bottom of my stomach from deadlines and exams, the first thing I do is reach for my iPod. Here are ten artists that can help you unwind and get through those last-minute cram sessions.
10. Movie Soundtracks
A favorite of mine is Avatar, composed by James Horner. It’s inspiring and motivational. Instrumentals have the ability to make you feel like you can do anything.
9. Ellie Goulding
Whether it’s background music or hardcore study time, Ellie Goulding is great. Her album Lights was on repeat my first week back at school. It’s perfect for any situation.
8. Mat Kearney
Relaxing and up beat, Kearney’s new album Young Love is a culmination of everything that Kearney has done up to this point. “Ships in the Night” is one of the best tracks on the album.
7. Colbie Callait
Ladies, what is more relaxing than a good love song?
6. Charlene Kaye
If you’re a fan of Darren Criss, I highly recommend his friend, Charlene Kaye. She has great chill music with substance, and her music videos are possibly the cutest thing on Youtube.
5. Trace Bundy
My friend and I stumbled across Trace Bundy last week while doing our French homework. He’s completely acoustic guitar, no vocals, therefore perfect for foreign language studying.
4. Mumford & Sons
For that chilly fall day when you just need some “me time.” Snuggle up with a warm cup of coffee and relax.
3. Jack Johnson
His music makes you want to be out on the ocean with just a surfboard and the sun.
2. Sondre Lerche
For the indie lovers that don’t want to unwind with mainstream pop artists.
Anyone else want to bow down to Adele? Her music is what I have been searching for my whole life, but until now have been lost without. Her voice makes you melt, and who can be stressed when listening to her?
