'Transformers 2' Still Going Strong After Three Days
Despite critics' disappointment, moviegoers love "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
According to Hollywood Reporter, the movie has earned a total of $126 million within its first three days of debuting. Wednesday, its release date, brought it $60.6 million, while earning $28.6 million on Thursday and $36.7 million on Friday. $16 million of the $60.6 million on its first day was earned from midnight viewings.
Los Angeles Times reports that it is unlikely, but still possible, that the "Transformers" sequel could surpass the total earnings "The Dark Knight" received over a five-day period. The 2008 summer film took in $203.7 million from its Friday release to the following Tuesday, Hollywood Reporter said.
"Transformers 2" could very well surpass its first film's $155.4 million, which accumulated over six-and-a-half days after its Monday release in 2007, Reuters reports. "Revenge of the Fallen" is directed by Michael Bay and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.
