Other films at the box office rode on the coattails of the Transformers success. "Transformers is helping the overall marketplace by performing well," Paul Dergarabedian said.
Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston's adult comedy Horrible Bosses came in second with $28 million. The family flick Zookeeper, starring Kevin James, pulled in $21 million, landing it at the number three slot. Both films exceeded studio projections.
Cars 2 and Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz completed the top five. The Pixar animated film grossed $15 million and Teacher took in $9 million.
