Travis Barker and DJ AM Will Make Full Recovery, Doctor Says

The two musicians are being treated for second- and third-degree burns.

The news of the crash continues to shock, but health officials at the burn center where DJ AM and Travis Barker are being treated as of this moment are sure that the two will make full recovery.

At a press conference Sunday, Dr. Fred Mullins, of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at the Doctors' Hospital in Augusta, said, "The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families and friends is requested at this time."

He told People that the two are being treated for second- and third-degree burns after escaping the fiery midnight crash. Barker has burns on his torso and lower body, while DJ AM suffers burns on both of his arms and a portion of his head.

They remain treated in the intensive care unit, Mullins said, while they are in a critical, but stable condition. "Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected."

And while such recovery takes around a year, Mullins expects the two to heal "much sooner than that."

The ex-Blink 182 drummer and celeb DJ were onboard with four other passengers when the jet crashed around midnight on Friday. The other four-the pilot, co-pilot, security guard, and Barker's assistant-didn't make it.

At this point, their families continue to stay strong. Barker's ex-mother-in-law, Gail Moakler, said, "We're waiting a bit to see what God brings." She told People that her daughter, Shanna, has rushed to be by her ex-husband's side.

"There's still love between them," said Gail. "They may be divorced, but they're still very close. She spends a lot of time with him. Their priorities are their kids."
