TV Station Footage Shows Man Being Shot
A hostage situation in front of the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles came to an end when a man holding a woman hostage was shot by police.
According to the AP, news footage from a Los Angeles news station showed the man allegedly being shot in the neck.
While Reuters simply reported that a police tactical team was sent to the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles on Tuesday to deal with a report of a standoff involving at least one hostage, the Associated Press reported the a TV broadcast videotape showed a man clutching a sign while using a woman as a shield as police followed them down a sidewalk. When the man released the woman's neck and fell backwards, as if he was shot.
According to reports, the woman escaped unhurt and police closed in on the man.
One person was taken to a hospital, said Fire Department spokesman Bob Collis.
