Twilight Author Trusts "New Moon" Director

Meyer's Web post tries to calm fans after new director announcement.

Twilighters need to calm down and place a little trust in director Chris Weitz, at least that's the word coming from author Stephenie Meyer, the mind behind the popular vampire saga, reports People.com.

Unlike some in her massive fan base, Meyer wrote on her Web site that she is happy to have Weitz on as the director for Twilight's sequel, New Moon.

Following the recent announcement that Catherine Hardwicke wouldn't be coming back as director, the author made a post on her Web site to smooth over disappointed fans, telling them, "I'm excited to work with Chris and I think he brings a lot to the table."

This change could also be welcomed by fans who were disappointed in the big screen version of the first book, as Meyers wrote, "I've had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible."

"He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy," the author tells fans.

Curious fans should note that About a Boy and The Golden Compass were both under Weitz's direction, and there is a letter on the Web site stating his plans to live up to the expectations of fans.

So once again, Twilighters, calm down and don't worry. A change of director for New Moon shouldn't mean new disappointments.
