'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' Breaks Box Office Records

The third installment of the romance fantasy franchise is enjoying quite a bit of box office success

The third installment in the Twilight series is having great success at the box office, as expected.

According to reports, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is well on its way to breaking several box-office records during the long holiday weekend.

Midnight screenings for the sequel on Wednesday night took in more than $30 million, breaking the record for the highest-grossing ticket sales for midnight showings. The record was previously held by New Moon, the predecessor in the series, which took in $26.3 million last November.

Altogether, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has grossed $92.8 million so far. Compared to the $72.7 million New Moon totaled it’s first day, which was a Friday, the final weekend gross looks promising.

Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be seen in 4,416 theaters across North America this weekend, which is a record in itself.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, released last summer, currently holds the highest grossing for a July 4th weekend record with $200 million at the box office. Since it is already halfway there, Twilight Saga: Eclipse is well on it’s way on breaking yet another record.
