Tyler Perry Dominates Weekend Box Office
Tyler Perry proved that he can do it all himself by dominating the weekend movie box office. His latest film, the drama "I Can Do Bad All by Myself' debuted this weekend at the top with $24 million, doing better than expected.
The film is based on Perry's stage play and he directed, produced, and starred in it as well. It is about an alcoholic named April who has to raise her deceased sister's three kids. It had a budget of $13,000,000. It stars Taraji P. Henson, Gladys Knight, Mary J. Blige and Perry, who reprises his role as Madea.
The character was previously seen in the films, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman," "Madea's Family Reunion," "Meet the Browns," and "Madea Goes to Jail," which has the largest gross of the films with $90,000,000.
"I Can Do Bad" has also received an A on Cinemascore and mixed reviews from critics.
