Tyler Perry Gives Largest Single Donation in NAACP History

The season of giving is certainly here. This week, Tyler Perry donated $1 million to the NAACP, the largest gift ever presented to the group by an individual.

NAACP leaders said that Perry's donation is a major event in black philanthropy, because donations that large are not usually given to civil rights groups.

Perry said the perseverance of those in The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has inspired him and helped him become a success in the film industry, according to the Associated Press.

The NAACP stated that the sum will be paid off over the next for years, and it was made in honor of the centennial anniversary of the group, reported ABC News.
