Tyler Perry Wants Jennifer Hudson as His Next Star
Tyler Perry is hoping former American Idol star Jennifer Hudson will agree to star in his upcoming movie one he wrote specifically for her, according to People.com.
Perry spoke with People on Wednesday at the New York premiere of his latest film, Madea Goes to Jail, and filled the public in on his new project for Hudson. "I just wrote a movie for her that I'm really excited about," he said. "I'm hoping she'll be able to do it."
With the recent tragedies from last fall, Hudson is taking her time getting back into the swing of things. Perry mentioned that he understands, saying, "Her brother's birthday was [Tuesday], so I know it was a tough day for her, but she's good."
"Looking and talking to [Jennifer], there's sadness in her eyes, but my thoughts and prayers are always with her," he added. "That's one of the reasons why I want her to do this role, because I think it'd be really cathartic for her to take it on and work through some things."
Perry didn't say too much about the subject of the film, but he did discuss his desire to work with the singer-actress: "[Jennifer] says that she's been wanting to work with me for a very long time and I definitely want to work with her. We just have to find the right time."
The actor didn't forget to talk about his newest movie, Madea, which he feels is exactly what the world needs right now. "With everything going on in this country, we need a good laugh," he says, "so, I put that damn wig on and I just want to make people hurt themselves laughing."
