U2 Is A Hit On YouTube
U2's Sunday show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., took place in front of a crowd over 90,000. Part of the band's 360 tour, which wraps up for 2009, was free to view online. The concert was the first to be streamed in its entirety live on the video sharing website YouTube.
The promotional clip advertising the concert received 2.7 million views. People in 16 countries were able to watch the Rose Bowl performance and it is believed more than 2.5 million people are thought to have watched the concert Sunday. YouTube expects to have the final viewership figures later today.
The concert was the top global-trending topic on Twitter while it was streaming. U2's Rose Bowl is the second major concert aired online in recent months. On June 1, Hulu broadcasted a day before the Dave Matthews Band released its album Big Whiskey and The GrooGrux King.
