U.K. Producer Mark Ronson Signs New Label Deal
The man behind Amy Winehouse's Grammy-winning album, producer Mark Ronson, is entering his Allido record label into a "parenting" agreement under Interscope Records. Ronson has also reportedly signed buzz worthy emerging rapper Wale.
Ronson told the Associated Press that his protege - Wale - is "the first rapper from (Washington) D.C. who sort of has the chance to make it. He's incredibly intelligent."
Ronson is definitely a man who knows what he likes, as his production credits on Winehouse's Back to Black garnered him five Grammys earlier this year. Ronson also worked on Lily Allen's debut CD, Alright, Still, and is currently cooking up new ideas with Winehouse. Although an artistic direction for Winehouse's next record hasn't been solidified, the two are back to "the same as (it) always is."
Ronson added, "I don't know, honestly," he said. "If you think about it too much . . . you start to try and emulate things. . . . When I hear the songs, I'll know what kind of record to make."
