Underdog Kris Allen Wins "American Idol"

Arkansas student, Kris Allen, 23, defeated San Diego native Adam Lambert, 23, in the American Idol Season 8 finale last night. According to the Washington Post, Allen, who won over people with his all-American boy looks, was shocked he triumphed over Lambert, a musical theater actor with an edgy style.

Reports claim that nothing ever cued viewers to suspect the victory of Kris Allen as the "American Idol"--his audition tape never even ran during the season's opener. It is no wonder that after Ryan Seacrest announced the winner, Allen said, "Adam deserves this. I'm sorry."

According to Entertainment Weekly, both Allen and Lambert are Season 8 winners. These two guys both respect each other and have become good friends. On Tuesday night when the guys were asked who was going to take the title, they both pointed to each other saying, "That guy!"

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert are both talented and refined artists that had a fun and long ride to last night's Season 8 finale. One can only assume that the next step is to watch out for both of their debut records.
