The Underdogs Finally Come Out On Top
After weeks of challenge losses and general dysfunction at camp, Foa Foa finally won immunity. Does this signal the beginning of the end for opposing tribe, Galu? From what we saw tonight it's pretty likely.
For the first time ever a reward contest was held without host Jeff Probst. Three members from each tribe were given a map leading to a deserted beach where a treasure chest and a crate of live chickens awaited them. The players competed in a bocce ball showdown. Surprisingly Foa Foa was in the lead the entire time until Dave from Galu threw his last shot to claim the hens.
While this was going on, Erik searched the Galu camp for an immunity idol reasoning if there was one at the Foa Foa camp, there had to be one there, too. He quickly found it in a tree using the clues Shambo was given during her stay at Foa Foa.
Shambo, Russell and Dave returned from the challenge. Everyone began looking forward to the eggs they would soon eat as well as meat later down the line. However this joy was short-lived when Shambo lost one of the chickens. "Who knew chickens could fly?" she asked as the escapee climbed higher and higher in a tree. The rest of the tribe could only stare as she clucked at the bird, the first sign of hostility in what has otherwise been a tight, happy-go-lucky group.
In spite of this, they pulled together in the immunity challenge, leading Foa Foa most of the game. That is until Monica had trouble with one of the obstacles, giving Foa Foa enough time to squeeze in their first win.
The vote at tribal council came down to two people Monica and Yasmin. The first was obviously targeted because of her performance in the challenge while Yasmin was criticized for not pulling her weight around camp. Leader Russell was initially upset when he learned people wanted to vote Yasmin out since she was a stronger competitor than Monica. In the end though everyone except Shambo voted out Yasmin.
Will this decision pay off? We'll have to wait until next week to see if Galu has truly lost its momentum or if Foa Foa's win was a one-time stunt.
